Paper Mill

About This Project

The Paper Mill is situated on the east end of French Creek yard and is the first industry you encounter when traveling eastbound.  There is plenty of activity always going on in this area, with numerous pickups of paper products and the arrival of raw materials needed to produce paper.  You’ll find a powerhouse, machine shop, large pulp storage silos and a truck refueling area which keeps trucks & equipment ready to go.  Several old buildings were torn down years ago, but their old foundations have been used for storage equipment and goods.  Located at the top of the stairway coming from the lower level near the main helix, it is certainly an attraction for all visitors as they tour the layout.  Take note of all the debris and garbage under the street bridge as you survey the area.  Like in any metropolitan city you might visit, folks throw away their unwanted trash, “under the bridge.”  This area has become a favorite switching area for many of our members since a myriad of materials come in and out during the production of paper products.
